Helpful Advice

After care:

  • It is highly recommended that you wash your hands thoroughly before touching any fresh piercing.
  • It is always beneficial to increase fresh fruit and vegetables as it is the vitamins and minerals that speed up the healing process.
  • Vitamin c and zinc are a good combination to take to assist in the healing process.
  • Try to get plenty of sleep, reduce stress and drink plenty of water.
  • There is no miracle cleaning solution for any piercing: if you're healthy on the inside, the better you look after yourself, your piercing should heal with minimal fuss.
  • It is worth noting that alcohol, drugs and smoking can have a detrimental affect on your fresh piercing. As can swimming in chlorine, local rivers and beaches, baths and spa baths.
  • Our local chemist will give you a free toothbrush when you purchase mouthwash, so you won't put bacteria near a fresh oral piercing.

Please feel free to ring for advice. We want to help you heal your piercing quickly and problem free. Remember I base my reputation on every piercing that comes from this shop!

Every person has the right to:

  • be pierced in a scrupulously hygienic, open environment, by a clean, conscientious piercer wearing a fresh pair of disposable latex gloves
  • a sober, friendly, calm and knowledgeable piercer, who will guide them through their piercing experience with confidence and assurance.
  • the peace of mind which comes from knowing that their piercer knows and practices the very highest standards of sterilisation and hygiene.
  • be pierced with a brand new, completely sterilised needle, which is immediately disposed of in a medical sharps container after use on the piercee alone.
  • be touched only with freshly sterilised appropriate implements, properly used and disposed of or resterilised in an autoclave prior to use on anyone else
  • know that ear-piercing guns are never appropriate, and are often dangerous, when used on anything other than ear lobes.
  • be fitted with only jewellery which is appropriately sized, safe in material, design, and construction, and which best promotes healing. Gold-plated, gold-filled, and sterling silver jewellery are never appropriate for any new or unhealed piercing.
  • be fully informed about proper aftercare,
  • have continuing access to their piercer for consultation and assistance with all their piercing-related questions.

For your information it is important to have eaten in the last 4 hours.
Do not use betadine, bepanthan, methylated/surgical spirits, peroxide or alcohol as these are too abrasive for body piercing.
Always go to a specialist, beware of people operating out of other businesses; they may not be around when you need them, are quick to take your money and don't want to know you when you have a problem. I am basing my reputation on your piercing!

How we feel about piercing guns:

As a professional piercer, I have signed a disclaimer that I would never use a piercing gun. Like a lot of others, many years ago I was pierced with a gun, and there seems to be people out there that still prefer that method. For those who do, I would like to make you aware of the following:

  • When a gun is used there is microscopic blood splatters with each piercing that remains on the gun, and you can't sterilize the gun.
  • As opposed to the medically sharp needle the earring is blunt and is rammed through the flesh.
  • Most operators have no formal training in aseptic techniques and use no gloves, don't wash their hands and touch everything during the process.
  • The guns have been known to jam half way during a piercing.
  • Often the stud post can be too short for the piercing and creates another set of problems when swelling occurs.
  • I feel that the difference in sensation is a likeness to cutting yourself with a sharp knife verses a blunt knife.

This is my opinion only, you will need to make your own decision.

Buyer Beware:

It is important to have the correct material and size jewellery for your piercing. We only use implant grade stainless steel, Titanium, PTFE and no less that 14ct gold.
Do not use sterling silver, 9ct gold or gold plate.
Be aware that the Health Department guidelines request that you should sight sterile tools being opened and you should sign that you have seen this happen.
Also DO NOT let anyone use a reusable pen to mark dots on your body. The fact that its reusable means it's probably been on someone else's tongue or worse still their genitals.
